“ Hands down I can see why this is the best bbq in Texas. The staff made us feel welcomed, and comfortable. They even gave us some pork belly on the house to try and it was divine! They had complementary water bottles. We got chopped beef sandwiches (enormous), sausage, pork belly, their fresh baked bread, and they came around with complimentary side of bead pudding. They were so kind with their portions too. The place was very homey and humble. We need to go back asap! Completely recommend! ”

The restaurant and facilities are not the best but they give you that rural, traditional, old school feeling. You'll feel good there. “ Worth the wait! We got there at around 8am and there was already a line that was about 10 -15 people deep. They do provide lawn chairs to sit on so you don't have to bring your own, but we ended up bringing our own because we had some so why not? It's such a quaint place. It consists of a dirt parking and two buildings (one that contains the smokers and the other where people order and sit). I think there were 8 tables of 6 inside and a covered patio outside that has 5 tables. Prior to officially letting people inside, someone came out to give an explanation of the menu and how to order. Once the doors officially open, parties would be let inside usually one or two parties at a time, depending on size of the party. We ordered a crap ton of food because we wanted to taste everything. We ordered the brisket, pork ribs, pork belly, beef ribs, waterfall pork, Lao sausage, potato salad, lemon kale slaw, cheesy grits, banana pudding and bread pudding. Phew!!! Needless to say, we took a lot home. Everything was delicious! I don't know if it was the waiting in line for anticipation or if it really was great, but I've never had bbq like this before. Everything was seasoned so well. I think my favorite was the waterfall pork with the sticky rice and crying tiger sauce. I've never had this flavor in bbq before, but it makes total sense. I just love Asian flavors fused in things that you wouldn't expect. Would definitely come here again. We were even considering coming here just to get more banana and bread pudding lol yes, even the desserts are good. It's not too sweet. It's the experience y'all and the flavor! “ Okay, hate to admit but Goldee's is worth it. I went on a 4-day Barbeque binger, and Goldee's blew Terry Black and Hutchinson's out of the water. We arrived at 8:30 and got our food at 12:05p on a Saturday. I'm no stranger to waiting in long lines but I do deeply appreciate the little touches Goldee's has, such as having a bunch of lawn chairs you can pick up and use, free water, porta potties, and a hand wash station. The line snakes around the parking lot so it was a little disorienting initially. There's basically one counter so it's one order at a time. They're super helpful in weighing out the food to see if you want more or less, and of course the little burnt end pieces for a treat! We got the beef rib, turkey, brisket, ribs, pork belly, kielbasa, and jalapeño cheddar sausage. All amazing but especially the turkey and kielbasa. The sides though - lemon kale coleslaw is perfect with such heavy meats. The pork hash though?! It looks gross, but it was killer. It's a little tangy and savory with the rice. So good and definitely didn't taste like what it looks like. The brisket beans were also unlike any beans we've had- I called them "adult" beans. My husband who hates beans said that was his favorite. It was smoky and complex. The homemade bread is also delicious- I normally don't eat the free bread, but we all finished the bread here. I can imagine the bread pudding is amazing on Sundays. Banana pudding was also unexpected! No fresh banana or wafers except crumbled on top. It's a beautiful vanilla/banana custard - it was addictive. It was the perfect amount of sweetness but it was fluffy and we devoured it despite being super full. Someone also came by to chat with us and check on us twice- that was really sweet and didn't expect it since Goldee's is clearly swamped. It's clear they want to take care of their customers. “ I am not exaggerating when I say that Goldee's fatty brisket is legitimately within top 5 bites of meat I've ever eaten in my life. After reading Texas Monthly and tons of records of people loving the barbecue, your hands are tied and you kind of have to give it a shot if you're in the DFW area and are a serious eater. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:45am and I was about maybe 30th in line, the first few got there around 7am, before sunrise even, I'd recommend just getting there like 8:30 to 9, you'll be within the first or second batch of people in line which is fine. I do think at this level of barbecue, the line is definitely a part of the aspect and is fun, you get to talk with like-minded visitors, take photos of the smokers and the time passes quickly. I ended up getting to go inside about 11:15am. Inside the restaurant was a very homey vibe, with only bigger 6 top tables in their smaller dining room with benches out back, great for larger parties, less so for smaller ones. The staff at Goldee's is SO welcoming, I see why they invite about 10 or 15 people in at a time and have the rest wait outside. When you're up at the counter and they slice meat, you're the only one they're paying attention to, they're friendly, will cut you extra(free of charge), give you free samples of burnt ends on the brisket etc. We ordered a decent sized platter, definitely enough for 4 plus a couple of leftovers: 1 lb Brisket(comes 1/2 fatty & 1/2 lean), 3 Pork Ribs(got 5 and didn't charge extra), 1 end cut Beef Rib, 2 Slices Pork Belly (extra end cut slice thrown on), 1 slice turkey(extra slice too) & 1 Link Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage. For the sides we got a small side of Potato Salad, Lemon Kale slaw, Fresh Bread(included) and a Banana Pudding to end the meal, of course. I already mentioned how good the fatty brisket is and I just want to say it again, it is really that good. Visually it's beautiful with the deep darkened bark contrasting the red smoke ring and juicy succulent meat. It holds firm in your hand or fork but once you take a bite, it amazingly melts away, easily the most tender brisket I've eaten, it's like magic. 110% the highlight of the meal. Coming in close seconds are the sausage and the pork ribs! The Sausage is easily the best sausage I've eaten, really nice firm snap on the skin and the meat is super juicy, gushing with cheese, well seasoned with the light minty spice from the jalapeño, it's something special. The pork ribs are also, the best pork ribs I've eaten in my life, like the brisket, they hold firm when you hold it but once you take a bite they cleanly fall apart tender where you bit in! Their barbecue sauce they rest the ribs in is also great with a very sweet spiced mustard tang accent, it's really good but it sucks that the meat is already so good that I don't wanna eat it with sauce! Pork Belly next, it's REALLY great, tender fall apart and seasoned well but it's very fatty so I wouldn't recommend eating anymore than 3 bites of it to maintain it's quality. The Beef Rib was good but I thought the bark was just ever so slightly tough, realistically this would be the highlight of any other meal but with the brisket, sausage and pork ribs on the same platter it doesn't shine as much. The Potato Salad and Lemon Kale slaw are both great sides. I love that the potato salad's soft parts are dominantly mashed potato and not mayonnaise, but there's still some noticeable chunks of potato present, and the seasoning is a little lighter to counteract the meat. The slaw was definitely a great move because the lemon acidity helps eating the fatty meats a lot but the delicate flavors from the kale also managed to shine through as well. They're great things to balance the meat. The bread they bake is also just white bread but in the best way possible, it's so fluffy and soft it soaks things up like a sponge and is so satisfying to eat with the cloudy texture. The banana pudding at the end was also amazing, the best texture on any pudding custard for Banana pudding I've had before and great banana flavor throughout, the crumble on top is a really nice tough, but I do wish there were whole slices of banana in the custard. Overall, I'd go back for the sausage, brisket & pork ribs if I was with anyone who really really liked barbecue or curious about food in general, maybe not with less serious eaters. I do genuinely think the 2-3 hour wait is not bad at all if you love food! Their barbecue is truly be the best in Texas, it's just a matter if you care about hitting 80% of the way or 100. ”

They ran out of beef ribs, beans, and kale slaw before we had a chance to order. No biggie cuz we were there for the brisket. Food was stellar. Brisket literally fell apart as you bring it to your mouth. Cheesy grits were phenomenal. Turkey was very good and sausage was also very good. The employees were very kind and attentive and even added extra burnt beef tips to our order. I would go back again, but would I wait another 2.5 hours? Probably not. “ Since we weren't in Texas for too long, we felt we had to grab good BBQ. This is one of the top rated places, so it felt like THE place to be. I'll say if you really like BBQ, it's probably a great experience. If you're fine with less highly rated BBQ, you may be able to save some hassle. We arrived at 1025 and they open at 11. We were one of the last people on line for a while. We waited just over 2 hours to get inside to order food, which was a bit longer than we were anticipating. We were probably eating with our eyes a bit too much, as we ordered way too much meat. Nothing is that inexpensive, but fairly standard for BBQ. There are a fair amount of options depending on what you're used to ordering. My favorites were (surprisingly) the house sausage and beef rib. The brisket was also a hit (love a free beef tips sample) but this was a bit too fatty for my liking. They do have a nice pack-up station for when you inevitably have ordered too much food, which I appreciated. I was worried about seating, but I think because there are so many people it's not such a problem and we easily grabbed a table inside (it was cold!). Water bottles were free, which was clutch. In the end, it's good BBQ. Do I care enough about the difference between okay and meh BBQ to wait 2 hours in the cold for it, probably not. But if you do, it's a great option for you. ”
“ Great place for some very good bbq! Brisket is really good! Not the best I've ever had, but very good! The ribs on the other hand are some of the best I've had! Extremely good, especially with that seasoning and bbq! The obvious cons to this place is they are only open 3 days of the week. The line is extremely long, therefore the wait time is long. I wait over 2 hours to get food. And then the inside is very small. But once you get inside, it's fully worth it! One neat thing to note is that they make their bread in house! So you aren't getting that crappy wonder or Mrs beards bread with your meal. They give you bread with anything you order anyways. ”
